I call myself a surviving spirit after "surviving" traumatic experiences to include prison, institutions, homelessness and losing my children to foster care. After being released from prison in 1990 I founded Wise Workz Inc. to empower people like me, "heal the healers" workshops, self-care products, and art.
When I was in preschool, my favorite time of day was when I was allowed to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study art.
I use many different mediums, such as glass beads, natural fibers, and wire. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
My inspiration comes from teaching people how to use things meant for the trash bin to transform one's life. The Pillowcase of Hope Project takes gently used pillowcases and transform them to beautiful masterpieces one person's experience at a time!
